My Story
Hello, my name is Jacob Fleming and I'm a physician in Dallas, TX. I decided to start writing more because I have found it frequently to be therapeutic and a useful way of keeping a record of exciting and mundane events in my life. I will probably talk mostly about medicine, philosophy, and video games. The usual.
I was born in Dallas, and when I was 3 my family moved to Livermore/Fort Collins, CO. I lived there until I graduated high school from an interesting place called Ridgeview Classical School. I moved back to Dallas to attend SMU where I was a President's Scholar and a pre-med. I had a lot of fun and met my lovely wife there! I took a gap year to continue my job tutoring and read some books. Next I went to Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN where I got my MD and met some amazing people. The residency match placed my wife and me back in Dallas, where I did an awesome internship in general surgery at Methodist Dallas. Now, I'm a diagnostic radiology resident at UT Southwestern planning a career in interventional spine and pain. My primary areas of interest are ultra minimally invasive treatments for spine disorders and cancer-related pain.
I like elegant, simple solutions to complex problems. I don't know how good I am coming up with them, but I like them, nonetheless. That's what drew me to IR.
My wife, Lindsay, and I have a beautiful son named Elliot and a handsome Corgi named Ajax.
My main hobbies are singing (badly) to my son, weight lifting, playing music (guitar, bass, recording, writing), messing with my dog, and playing an occasional video game or two.
That's about it. Hopefully the two of you who eventually read this page will find my drivel slightly amusing. Thanks for checking it out.
